วันที่ 8 มกราคม 2567 นายพิพัฒน์ รัชกิจประการ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน ให้การต้อนรับ นายเดวิด จอห์น เวลช์ ผู้อำนวยการประจำสำนักงานประเทศไทยของโซลิดาริตี้ เซ็นเตอร์ และคณะ เข้าพบเพื่อแสดงความยินดีในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่ง และหารือด้านแรงงานในประเด็นความปลอดภัยและอาชีวอนามัยในการทำงาน และส่งเสริมความเสมอภาค และความเท่าเทียม โดยเฉพาะคนทำงาน ทั้งชายและหญิง โดยมี นายอารี ไกรนรา เลขานุการรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน พร้อมด้วยผู้บริหารระดับสูงกระทรวงแรงงาน เข้าร่วม ณ ห้องจัตุมงคล ชั้น 6 อาคารกระทรวงแรงงาน
          นายพิพัฒน์ กล่าวว่า ผมพร้อมด้วยผู้บริหารกระทรวงแรงงานมีความยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ได้มีโอกาสต้อนรับ เดวิด จอห์น เวลช์ ผู้อำนวยการประจำสำนักงานประเทศไทยของโซลิดาริตี้ เซ็นเตอร์ และคณะ ที่ได้มาเดินทางมาเยี่ยมเยียนกระทรวงแรงงานในวันนี้ ซึ่งต้องขอขอบคุณที่ให้การช่วยเหลือประสานงานในหลายๆ เรื่อง โดยเฉพาะประเด็นในด้านความปลอดภัยและอาชีวอนามัยในการทำงาน รวมทั้งการส่งเสริมและคุ้มครองสิทธิด้านแรงงาน การขจัดการเลือกปฏิบัติในสถานประกอบการ ความเสมอภาค ความเท่าเทียมทางเพศสภาพ ซึ่งกระทรวงแรงงานเราให้ความสำคัญกับการป้องกันการเลือกปฏิบัติ และส่งเสริมความเสมอภาค และความเท่าเทียม โดยเฉพาะคนทำงาน ทั้งชายและหญิง หากมีอะไรที่เราสามารถอำนวยความสะดวกได้เรายินดีที่ประสานงานให้ และพร้อมที่จะประสานการทำงานร่วมกัน
          “กระทรวงแรงงานขอขอบคุณโซลิดาริตี้ เซ็นเตอร์ ที่ช่วยประสานงานเข้าไปเคลียร์ปัญหาให้แรงงานไทยได้รับค่าชดเชย ได้รับค่าตอบแทนหลังจากที่บริษัทได้ปิดกิจการ หวังว่ากระทรวงแรงงานและโซลิดาริตี้ เซ็นเตอร์จะร่วมทำงานสนับสนุนซึ่งกันและกัน โดยเฉพาะแรงงานของไทยที่ประสบความเดือดร้อนให้ได้รับสิทธิตามกฎหมายแรงงานต่อไป” นายพิพัฒน์ กล่าวท้ายสุด
          ด้าน นายเดวิด จอห์น เวลช์ ผู้อำนวยการประจำสำนักงานประเทศไทยของโซลิดาริตี้ เซ็นเตอร์ กล่าวว่า ขอขอบคุณท่านรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงานที่เปิดโอกาสให้เข้าพบและหารือในประเด็นความร่วมมือด้านแรงงานในวันนี้ ซึ่งโซลิดาริตี้ เซ็นเตอร์ เป็นองค์กรที่ได้ทำงานร่วมมือกับรัฐบาลไทยและกระทรวงแรงงาน ในการมุ่งส่งเสริมสิทธิแรงงานให้กับแรงงานที่ทำงานอยู่ในประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะในการดำเนินการให้ความช่วยเหลือกรณีลูกจ้างของบริษัทบอดี้แฟชั่นถูกเลิกจ้างไม่ได้รับค่าชดเชย ขอขอบคุณกระทรวงแรงงานที่กรุณาเปิดกว้างที่ร่วมมือกันจนสามารถทำให้คนงานได้รับการช่วยเหลือเยียวยา ซึ่งเรายินดีที่จะร่วมมือกับกระทรวงแรงงานในการปกป้องพัฒนาแรงงานไทยต่อไป

          Mr. Phiphat said that the Ministry of Labour’s executives and he were pleased for the opportunity to welcome the Director of the Solidarity Center, Thailand Office, Mr. David John Welch, visiting the Ministry of Labour today. He thanked them for helping to coordinate many matters, especially issues regarding occupational health and safety at work, including the promotion and protection of labour rights, the elimination of discrimination in the workplace, equality, and gender equality. The Ministry of Labour attaches importance to preventing discrimination and promoting equality, especially gender equality among working people. If there is anything that they can facilitate, he said they would be happy to coordinate and work together.
“The Ministry of Labour would like to thank the Solidarity Center for helping to coordinate and clear up issues so that Thai workers can receive compensation after the company closes down. He said that he hoped the Ministry of Labour and the Solidarity Center would work together to support each other, especially in helping distressed Thai workers to continue to receive their entitlements according to labor law,” said Mr. Phiphat.
          The Director of the Solidarity Center, Thailand Office, Mr. David John Welch thanked the Labour Minister for providing an opportunity to meet and discuss issues of labour cooperation today. The Solidarity Center is an organization that works in cooperation with the Thai government and the Ministry of Labour to promote labour rights for workers in Thailand, especially in assisting in cases where employees of Body Fashion Company were terminated and uncompensated. He thanked the Ministry of Labour for being open and working together to enable workers to receive relief. He said he was pleased to work with the Ministry of Labour to protect and develop Thai workers further.
